  Fenton Art Gallery: Tonia Kehoe

Tonia Kehoe
Tonia Kehoe
'The Age of Silence'

11th September - 3rd October

Born in Wexford in 1974, Tonia Kehoe graduated from the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork, in 2004, where she received the Student of the Year Award. She has been working exceptionally well ever since and her name will be familiar to those who watch contemporary art, as a significant young talent. Although she has been part of many group exhibitions here, this is her first one-person exhibition at the Fenton Gallery.

Her new paintings are a development towards more complete abstraction with vigorous paintwork and the introduction of strong colour, influenced by a recent visit to South America.

Solo exhibitions of her paintings have been held in Wexford in 2003 and 2006 and at the Lavit Gallery, Cork, in 2004. Wexford County Council recently awarded her their artist bursary award for 2009. Her work is included in several public collections such as the OPW; Cork Opera House; IIB Bank, Dublin and Cork City Council.
